Miami Heat News, standings, schedule and more... And more... For years, the Heat has always been known as an Eastern conference team that might have its chances during the playoffs. Well, it has always been that way, except during the last few years in the early 2000s, when a duo of Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal brought the Miami franchise its first championship title. And then after another period of several failed attempts on claiming back the ring, the unexpected happened: All Stars LeBron James and Chris Bosh both went out of their former teams and joined forces with Wade in Miami, leading to a lot of championship forecasts, with a lot of people from Florida, chanting 82 to 0. We all know what happened next, the Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas Mavericks took the championship hopes of the Miami Heat, once again making them just a "top contending team in the East".
The team's history says they have always been coined as such, though it wasn't bad considering that in the franchise's first few seasons, they were the worst team with a record of 15–67, considered as the team's worst season in franchise history. Fast forward to a few years after continuously being a "so and so" team, the Heat saw hope when Pat Riley came in. This genius did a lot of bold efforts, acquiring All Star Center Alonzo Mourning in exchange for the team's role players at that time. Miracles happened afterwards, with the Heat improving in their records, making them the most improved team in the Atlantic division. The same success followed the following year, with Mourning taking charge, having another big improvement in their records though losing many times to teams such as the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks come playoff time. The big improvement brought about by Riley and Mourning earned the Heat a change in their venue, bringing the franchise to the American Airlines Arena.
Yet, it has always been that way: the Heat will end up making the playoffs but will be stopped at their quest for the ring when playoffs arrive. Things stirred again, when the arrival of a superstar out of Marquette University named Dwyane Wade bought the Heat fans back into the arena again. Wade was so electrifying, such that his teammates Lamar Odom and Rafer Alston also shone with him as well. Scouts began to watch Wade in every game and at the end of his contract, lots of teams offered to take Wade in. You all know the story, Wade said no because he wanted to build a dynasty with the Heat, hence inspiring the Heat management to acquire superstars such as Chris Bosh out of the Toronto Raptors, and then two-time league's Most Valuable Player, LeBron James, sending a whirlwind of media to the organization with a lot of high hopes and expectations.
And last season, the Heat finished as the Eastern Conference Champions, but were a few games shy of claiming the World title from the Dallas Mavericks. Will this be the start of a dynasty that the Heat has long sought for? If you are looking for a way to watch Miami Heat online, you have come to the right place.
