However, even though the team did not win the game, it was the first time in eight years that the Kings made it to the playoffs. This season, inspired them to sign on experienced veterans Willie Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky. Making the playoffs again, they lost to the San Jose Sharks. However, even the loss of the Stanley Cup twice has not dampened the King's spirit, but encouraged the team to work harder and enlist the help of seasoned players.
