NBA star Tony Parker to miss the Summer Olympics in London
NBA superstar Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs may not be able to join his French team after sustaining an eye injury which was sustained in a brawl involving music superstar Chris Brown and the members of his hip hop entourage the Drake. The fight which occurred in WiP Club in Soho in June 15 2012 also involved Tony Parker’s wife and body guards. Tony has stated his intention to sue the New York Club for a whooping $20 Million.
Tony Parker is scheduled for an eye operation in New York before joining the French Team during their training at Pau. Tony has however stated that the decision whether he will play in the Olympics or not currently lies with his doctors and he will abide by their decision. The injury which resulted into serious cornea damage to the eyes of Tony may also have diverse effect on Tony Parkers future career which will largely depend on the success of the operation to be done in a New York hospital. Currently Tony has commented that he has faced a lot of challenges and had to apply over five different medications so as to manage the eye. He has also commented that he had to restrict his movements and has been staying mainly indoors of late to avoid getting eye contamination which may further complicate the eye problem.
The French team will be playing against the United States Team on July 29th 2012 during their opening match. The Summer Olympic Games which have attracted a lot of attention worldwide is being held in London for the third time now, the other times being 1908 and 1948. London is the only other city apart from the United States to host the Summer Olympics and the French Basketball team’s chances of winning the gold may be dimmed with the absence of Tony Parker, the San Antonio Spurs guard.
